Festive Season Interior Design Tips

With the holidays approaching, streets becoming lines with glittering lights, windows being adorned with tinsel and shopping malls becoming ensconced in trees and presents; now is the time to start thinking about decorating your home with festive flair.
Whether you live in a free-standing home, a luxury condo or a bachelor apartment, there’s nothing like a little colorful décor to lift your spirits and get you in the mood for the festive season. You don’t have to be a religious zealot either – it’s an enjoyable time of year, so have some fun in your home!
Splash Some Color On It
No matter what you do, make sure it’s in color. Yes, there are great silver baubles and matching silver trees with silver fairy lights and silver strands of beads… but what about a splash of blue or an over-saturation of purples, pinks and mauves? Like we said, have some fun and let your imagination take you back to childhood days when you wanted to put every single decoration on the tree at the same time.
Rustic Beauty
In keeping with the popular rustic themes that we see in furniture and ornamental design, weathered, old and used items make a fabulous addition to some colorful treatments. Some pieces of distressed wood make a great foundation for a table centerpiece and could even double as a tree if you’re one for that sort of thing.
Light It Up
There are so many varieties of lights, lamps, candles and fairy lights on the market, that you’re sure to find something that suits your living space and personal style. Bring in the romantic down-lighting of candles offset with the magical sparkle of fairly lights and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a warm, fun and festive holiday feeling… right in the comfort of your own home.
